Just in case anyone was still following my adventures from my time in Pennsylvania... I have rebranded! I am no longer operating under the business name Larkspur Photo. While I still love flowers I thought it would be more streamlined and more reflective on my status as an artist to use my own name as part of my business name. My new business is Jessica Esplin Photography. I am now based in Sunnyvale California and I photograph Newborns, Maternity and Families. Thanks so much for coming with me on this journey!

I met this beautiful baby girl with her mom and dad in her State College Pennsylvania home when she was eleven days old. We tried to keep in mind her familial religious orthodox Christian traditions during the session. A baby is so pure and innocent and to surround her in white fit our religious theme. I especially loved the precious prayer pose that we took to put on her baptismal announcement. Sometimes I like to branch out a little and do something really creative, like make a photo painting. If you check out last month on Larkspur Photo's Facebook page, you can see the photos of the full moon I started out painting. I experimented with some different brush strokes, such as oil painting, or expressive brushes, plus adding textures from my favorite Photoshop texture producer, Sarah Gardner Photography, based in the UK. Next I moved to transforming some of my favorite photos I've taken of my newborn clients this year (plus my favorite photo of my nephew from last year). I am definitely in love with the results! I hope to keep doing this on a regular basis.
Avery met me with some of her family at her grandmothers house in Centre Hall, PA. She was ten days old. She was my fourth model call baby for the Spring Newborn Model Call, and boy did I get lucky: she is such a beautiful baby! It was kinda funny: while Avery's mother was feeding her between poses, her grandma's cats decided to make themselves comfy on my beanbag--I guess it is a nice bed for cats too! (P.S. Don't worry, I always wash everything between sessions!) Avery had many cute headbands and a ruffly diaper cover to use during her session. We were able to mix it up with lots of different colors. We also attempted to use my new flower nest prop, but by then it was wake up time for Avery. Oh well, that's just the way it goes with newborns. Model Call baby number 3! Little Donald was my third boy from the model call (don't worry, the next two model call babies are girls!!). I met this gorgeous baby boy in his Lemont home with his mom and dad and their humongous dog (who was too big to put in the photos, ha ha!). He was such a little ladies man during his session; he kept raising his eyebrows at me and gave me lots of little smirks and smiles. Such personality already! And his mom was prepared for his photo session with lots of goodies. I love it when clients provide their own personal props to style their own session. We used two of his baby blankets, a little tux outfit and a crocheted hat with matching diaper cover. And then we topped the session off with his parents rings on his toes, so precious. |
